The CultMark operation was represented by partner Pafos Tourism Committee – Pafos Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the second-year running at the two most important tourism fairs in Europe, viz:
World Travel Market (WTM) in London, held during 14-17 November 2005, and
International Tourism Exchange - ITB in Berlin held during 9-12 March 2006.
This took place at the Pafos section of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation stand. ITB is the largest and WTM is the second largest tourism exhibition in Europe. Pafos Tourism Committee was the first CultMark partner to publish dedicated brochures promoting the cultural heritage of the Pafos region through the CultMark operation; these brochures were launched at WTM in November 2004 and since then have been disseminated at various fora including tourism fairs in several EU countries.

At the Pafos stand in WTM in London were CultMark Project Co-ordinator Manos Vougioukas and Dr Nikolos Bogiazides from the Scientific support team of the University of Thessaly, as well as Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, Marketing Manager of the Pafos Tourism Committee – Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Nasos Hadjigeorgiou said: “We are very pleased to promote the CultMark operation on behalf of the project partnership through our stand at WTM, as well as marketing our Pafos Region’s rich cultural heritage and local identity through the CultMark INTERREG IIIC operation in the spirit of our excellent inter-regional co-operation for expected regional development benefits”.
At ITB in Berlin, the President of Lead Partner DEMKA Nea Ionia Magnesia, George Tamias, visited the Pafos stand on 11th March where a new poster of CultMark Operation was on display and project leaflets were available. George Tamias said: “We are fortunate to have the opportunity as an inter-regional project to be represented at such big European events. We hope that this way we can reach the professionals as well as the general public and thus increase awareness about the local identity and cultural heritage assets of our partner places, particularly for cultural tourism which is a theme of this year’s ITB with Greece being the official partner country”.
Pafos will also represent CultMark at fairs in Nicosia (May 2006) and finally in the WTM in London in November 2006 for the closing promotion and dissemination event of the project.
